Western Digital for the win!

This past summer, the hard drive on my computer started to act up. To make a long story short, I wanted to send it in for warranty service, but I had to first send Western Digital (the manufacturer of the drive) proof of purchase so that I could get warranty service. It took them a long time to finally update the proof of purchase - and by the time they did, I was using the drive, and it seemed to be okay, so I didn't send it in. Of course, this was a mistake because once the warranty expired, the drive died. I asked Western Digital if they could service the drive since I was having problems when the drive was under warranty, and after another long period of time, they finally got back to me and told me that they wouldn't fix the drive.

I have been using Western Digital drives for a long time, and I was a little upset about the situation (customer service was extremely SLOW and led to me not getting the drive fixed) so I wrote John Coyne, the CEO of Western Digital a letter.

Let's just say that I wish WD's customer service was as quick as their CEO. Today, five days after I sent the letter, I got a response:

Dear Mr. Cesarini,

First, thank you being a long time WD customer. I am sorry to hear of your unsatisfactory experience with your 250GB drive and our subsequent service support. I have passed your letter to Gary Meister, Senior Vice President, Customer Satisfaction, for his immediate attention.

Thanks for taking the time to write to me and outline your experiences. This type of customer feedback supports our continued progress in product and service quality.

Best regards, John

John F Coyne President & Chief Executive Officer Western Digital Corporation

I'm hoping that WD pulls through and repairs my hard drive - I've always liked WD hard drives.

Hey everyone, I'm going to try this one more time - I'm going to make an effort to keep this site up-to-date. It's been almost 7 months since I've posted anything on this site. From now on, I plan on posting articles about things that I'm doing that might interest others. For example, I'm starting to do research on cars because I'm planning on buying one at some point this spring. Chez
